Current Beauty Staples

Beauty Staples this MonthA couple of weeks ago I was in Ulta ….by myself…without a time frame.  Let me tell you, I did not know what to do with myself, it was fab-u-lous!  Ulta ranks up there as one of those stores I can just endlessly wander around, know what I mean?  Like Target?  I went in specifically for a new face wash, but you bet I hit every section minus the hair tools.  It never fails, I am always amazed by all of the products that are available.  I often find myself standing in the aisles, reading descriptions, feeling puzzled…curious…and amazed.  Sometimes a combination of all three, sometimes only a feeling of one.  For instance, Soap and Glory’s Sit Tight 4-D -reading the title on the tube left me wondering what the heck is this?  Quickly I learned that it firms and smooths your thighs, hips, and bottom…all while you are sitting, of course!  Part of me laughs thinking “yeah right,” but the other part of me thinks “hmmm what if this really works”  and then I’m the crazy lady talking to herself.

Crazy or not, there are so many products that I have on my “want to try list” but that is for another day …except I’ve gotta ask if anyone has tried the #1 on my list – Glam Glow moisturizer?  This has been on my list for about 2 years now, but I’m having a hard time shelling out almost $50 for it…obviously, it has been 2 years.  Anyhow, I don’t think you can get it at Ulta, but I know Sephora sells it.  If anyone has tried it -let’s talk.

Onto the products that I’m currently using-

(PS – I get commission through clicks and purchases made through this post but the below products are all products that I have chosen to buy on my own terms).

Benefit Cosmetics high beam liquid face highlighter • Benefit Cosmetics • $26

Instant dewy glow = a win!  I dab this on my cheekbones, slightly under my eyes, and then down my nose.  Sometimes I’ll dab some towards the middle of my forehead and if I’m going somewhere special I sometimes even use it on my collarbone.  This also lasts a long time.

Philosophy The Microdelivery Exfoliating Wash16 Oz • philosophy • $42

I have a confession, I do not have a skin regimen that I consistently use.  Yes, I always wash my face and use some type of moisturizer but the product I’m using typically changes once I’m empty.  1) I like trying new things and 2) I think I just haven’t found something that I’m in love with.  I will say I’ve had good experience with this one so far and I’m happy with my purchase.  However, I think in the future I’d rather have this as a “use 1-2 times per week product,” rather than daily in the morning and at night because of the exfoliating component.  Another face wash that I’ve liked in the past is Murad’s Time Release Acne Cleanser, for the times during the year when my face likes to act like I’m a teen again.

Botanics 100% Organic Refreshing Toning Spritz • Botanics • $10.99

Okay, up above I said I don’t have a consistent skin regimen -however, this product will be the first that I add to my “regimen.”  I spritz this on my face and neck after washing and I immediately have a feeling of being refreshed.  It is super light and has a nice scent in my opinion.

L’Oreal Visible Lift Radiance Booster • L’Oreal • $12.99

I’ve purchased this product twice now, it is a keeper for the long run and at a very reasonable price.  This gives me an instant, subtle glow which is especially nice during these winter months!

Olay Luminous Whip Face Moisturizer • Olay • $38.99

This moisturizer has served me well thus far, but the scent is a little too overpowering for my liking.  Nevertheless I do like Olay products in general and I’m sure there are many people out there who would find the scent to be a positive thing.

John Frieda Precision Foam Hair Color • John Frieda • $12.99

Guys, I feel like I’m getting gray hair WAY sooner and faster than I should be!  It does not help that my hair is darker so it does not blend well.  The amount of times I would need to go to a stylist is ridiculous so I started dying my own hair in between.  I’ve used a few different brands, but I always seem to come back to John Freida. I just dyed my hair a few days ago with this.

bareMinerals Glimmer • bareMinerals • $15

Nude Beach is the perfect base for any look and can be worn by itself too.  While this may not be my favorite color overall, it definitely is my favorite in that I know I can grab it to go with any look since it is so versatile.  I bought this a long time ago after reading Emily Maynard’s blog …yes, for those of you who don’t know me well, I have a dirty secret -I watch all things Bachelor/Bachelorette.  Please don’t judge.

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm • Burt’s Bees • $3.29

I use all types of chapsticks, but you can’t go wrong with Burt’s Bees, I specifically like the Vanilla Bean, it smells so good!

Anyone else have any current favs or trusty standbys?
